Dashing Through the Snow (Part 2)

So, yes. We finally went back to the snow for a weekend. And this time it was indeed – dashing!

Day 1 – Snowboarding

While our pals Ben and Delia decided to go for skiing lessons, we opted for snowboarding lessons.

After a tumultuous process of trying to navigate what was apparently the busiest weekend at Snoqualmie Pass (and dealing with somewhat useless customer service people and sheer chaos), we finally managed to sign up for a 2-hour private lesson (allow 20-30 mins for sign-up process), get our gear (allow 1 hour) and hit the slopes!

We had a lovely Ukranian woman as our instructor. She was a lifetime skier, but had also been snowboarding for years.

Having snowboarded when he was younger, Esh seemed to have mastered it from the get go. It was my first time, so I fell A LOT. It was tiring, but fun! We spent the majority of the lesson on the learner’s pad. Then did one beginner slope run at the end.

Later, we hit the hot tub in the hotel (so good), then had dinner at Dru Bru. Thank god for beer & pizza after a day on the slopes!

By the end of it, we were exhausted and headed back to the hotel to get a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 – Tubing

We had to be out of the hotel by 11am or something like that on the Sunday, so given we didn’t have much time, we decided to spend the morning tubing.

Tubing is AWESOME! If you’ve never heard of it before, it is basically like sliding down a slope on a giant inflatable tube.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … Dee!

Ben & Dee, happy tubers

The only thing that sux about it is dragging your tube back up the hill, but it’s a good workout.

Overall, we loved the snow! And to have the mountains an hour away is a big bonus about living in Seattle. Next up – skiing lessons. Then to decide which to proceed with.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering. Yes, we took the dogs.

Til next time, Snoqualmie!
